In Pictures: Snow falls over Paris as City of Light turns white

Paris has been treated to its first proper snowfall in years, making the French capital look more beautiful than ever. And unsurprisingly people haven't wasted any time in capturing the city in all its glory.

Paris and its surrounding area have been placed on alert for snow and ice as the white powder coats the city.

The snow started falling in the French capital at around 10am and became steadier around midday and began to settle.

Here's a look at the City of Light in white starting outside The Local's offices at the Bassin de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement in the north east of the city.

J'ai rêvé que tu m'aimais
